Learning Event
Consulting:
Do you ever find yourself in the middle of a consulting project asking, "What’s really going on here?" Join PRODN for a mind-expanding day with Dr. Larry Hirschhorn, a consultant who is continually driven to make sense of complex situations, and determines what is going on in an organization by contemplating and calculating as many of the interrelationships as he can encompass. These might include quantitative financial and industry data, operational realities of the enterprise, the organization’s culture, and the psychodynamics of the leadership team. In this one-day session, Larry will introduce us to psychodynamic concepts that enable consultants to help groups and organizations become more effective. |

Appreciative Inquiry Consulting: The Broccoli Alliance and PRODN members who have done or will attend the Taos Institute training are talking about forming a "centre" and joining appreciative Inquiry Consulting, a new global alliance. If you have interest in DVAIC, come and share your thoughts and passion. We aim to have an agreement about membership by September 28 when several are going to the First International Conference on AI in Baltimore. Two meetings have been set: DVAIC would be made up of individuals who fully subscribe to and work with AI in their practice that is in accordance with the Purpose and Principles of AIC LLC. (Please see page Purpose and Principles on pages 4-6 of the Charter for the Purpose and Principles). I envision DVAIC to be diverse and inclusive. We would be a self-organizing alliance for the purpose of learning, building business, and collaborating to bring an appreciative approach to organizations in which we work. The cost is $300/year if we have 21 or more members in our Philadelphia Centre. Kindly RSVP to by Thursday, 9/13 for the 9/17 mtg. to Eileen Shanahan at EileenShanahan@aol.com . Contact either Eileen or Susan Wood at Susanowood@toast.net for more information on the AIC Charter. Susan Wood has generously offered to
host the meetings in her home: Click here for the AI SIG information page |

Meeting
with National ODN Board
On Monday, August 6, 2001 about 15 members of PRODN and the Steering Committee met with the Board of the OD Network. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange information regarding specific issues each organization faces, brainstorm areas of potential collaboration and network at a personal level. The gathering lasted about 2.5 hours and proved enlightening and enjoyable for all involved. |

Facilitating in the Experience Economy - with Rob McNeil Most exhilarating! Come on, ODers, we are really behind the time regarding using technology already available to us. I believe our clients are definitely raising the bar regarding their exceptions of OD to deliver "more, faster". This workshop made it clear to me that a major way to do just that would be to utilize laptop technology. Laptops allow us to exponentially speed up the process of getting more inputs and synthesizing them faster. In turn, we can then immediately have critical masses of "real data" to influence decision-makers. A second major learning for me was about ways in which digital video can be used for marketing: pictures are worth lots of words –video will be worth lots more in terms of powerful impacts that capitalize upon both on right and left brain learning. -- Bonalyn Mosteller, Ed.D. ------------------ The Groupware approach is something I will offer to my Leadership Development steering committee here and see what reaction they have. I really liked the way you can synthesize so many ideas very quickly and have the record in one place without having to compile a bunch of charts. We have so many challenges with communicating across expanding geographic and functional boundaries that every idea is being explored. My thanks to Rob and Todd for a nicely organized and informative day. -- Helen Krewson ------------------ The program exposed me to a certain technologies that I was not already familiar with and that I do expect to utilize in the future. I believe that it is imperative for OD professionals to become comfortable with these new approaches so that we can identify the right applications for each. Rob and Todd did a nice job of emphasizing that we do not need to become experts -- just understand what is available and how/ when to access it. -- Helen Cooke ------------------ Rob is a master teacher on many subjects. This exposure was not only to an interesting set of tools (Council and WebCouncil), but offered a view of a different paradigm for significantly different and significantly more engaging meetings. It's a mystery to me why so few OD people use these tools. Hopefully that will change as sessions like Rob's demystify the process. -- Warren Hoffman |
