 PRODN Learning Event

Monthly Program: Thursday, June 26, 2003

Even with today’s extensive scrutiny of capital expenditures, return on investment (ROI) for organization development interventions is seldom measured. Frequently this is due to a perception that the impact of organizational initiatives cannot be quantified, or to a lack of understanding of how to measure.

Regardless of the reason, what we risk by not measuring is the opportunity to demonstrate OD’s contribution to meeting our client’s profit expectations. When we include ROI measures as a standard element in projects we add a level of value uncommonly associated with the “soft sciences” and build a more significant level of credibility with clients.

In three case studies of organizational interventions, our panel of experts will explain how measuring ROI was integral to their process and how the specific initiative contributed to bottom line revenue in the organization in which it was implemented. Ron Preston of Kudos Unlimited Inc. will discuss Appreciative Inquiry, Christine Dreyfus of Dreyfus and Associates, will report on developing leadership competencies, and Terry Simmons of Simmons Associates will share his expertise regarding Diversity initiatives.

This evening’s discussions should prove to be thought provoking and an opportunity to voice your opinion on whether organizational development consultants should worry about “ROI”.

How Can I Use This Topic In My Work?
  • Help you to design measurement into OD interventions
  • Provide you with ways to measure the economic value added of OD interventions
  • Focus your OD interventions on strategic business results rather than “quick fix” solutions
  • Apply metrics-based OD in your organization.
Who Should Attend?
  • Executives and Managers
  • Training and Development Personnel
  • HR Personnel
  • Consultants: Internal and External
  • Anyone responsible for change in organizations
