| What is Whites Confronting Racism – Part
2? |
Whites
Confronting Racism, part 2, is the second in a series of three
workshops
for European Americans – whites – wanting to continue their learning
about racism and build skills in addressing it. |
| What is the purpose of the workshop? |
The
purpose of the second-level workshop is to continue and enhance
participants’
learning about how we as whites -- specifically OD/HR professionals
-- can confront racism. We will introduce additional concepts, tools
and strategies, which build on those from the first workshop. Specifically,
we will:
- Debrief
participants' experiences, insights, and interventions since
the last workshop.
Learning opportunities will come from successes as well as experiences
of despair, barriers, and problems. Participant’s specific experiences
and needs will provide a focus throughout the workshop.
- Deepen our understanding
of why racism is so persistent in individuals and groups.
- Develop
strategies and introduce tools for intervention, including new "inner work" tools
and small-group interventions.
And,
we will continue to work in, and build, an environment of support
for one another as "white
allies," learning together about confronting racism. |
| How does this build on the Level 1 workshop? |
This
workshop continues the dialogue from the conversations that were
started
in the Level 1 workshop of this series. For information on the Level
1 of the series, it is suggested you review the information at Whites
Confronting Racism - Part 1. |
